What Your MLM Prospects Are Thinking
Let's try an experiment ...
A few months ago I created a poll asking people what they thought would help them in building their MLM or network marketing home-based business.
The response was excellent for 2 reasons (according to the feedback you gave me):
- People enjoyed being able to give their input and express themselves.
- People found that looking at the results of the survey gave them insight into the minds of their potential prospects and what they are looking for ... thus helping them to target their marketing efforts more effectively.
Traditional MLM has taught for decades that we should build our business through our "warm list" and the "3-foot rule." Some argue that it's still the best way to build a downline because MLM is all about relationships. This time instead of using Squidoo to create a poll, I think it would be more interesting to see people's actual comments.
Others contend that the world has changed. We now live in the Internet age and must adapt with the times. Marketing online allows us to reach more people and is more fun.
What's your opinion? Is Internet marketing for MLM superior to the traditional warm market approach or is it all hype?
So I invite you to click the "Comments" link immediately below this article, and a window will pop up where you can type in your opinion on this question. You can also read other people's comments there.
Feel free to write as much or as little as you want, and even ask questions.
Thanks for participating. This could be a provide some great insights for all of us!

As a follow-up ...
I know a lot of people who have been very frustrated with traditional network marketing approaches.
Have some of you tried to market online only to find it wasn't as easy as you thought it would be?
What is the solution?
Well here it goes. When you are new to network marketing, Whoes telling the truth and whoes just trying to get your money. To many to make a good decison. All of them promising this and that. I have been lucky, only taken once for $40.00 dollars. Wasn't worth going after it. So the bottom line is old way new way no one that is new will know. Promise me this promise me that one gets lucky or taken.
Nothing worth having is easy.
1.No matter what you do, some initial learning is required.
2.Skills can be learned.
In learning about what makes marketing successful - corporate, online or one-on-one - the relationship with your prospect is everything. At first you have only seconds to capture their attention. Whatever your method, learning to communicate your message is key.
A word from the wise (my successful upline) is that - if I had limited people to one way of doing this it wouldn't be possible to have the success I now enjoy.
I guess the truth is we all build differently. For some, family and warm market are the way to go and for others it's the internet. For others it may be a combo.
Obviously both work but what will work for us is up to us to find out.
In my opinion, either way... duplication is the key to wealth in network marketing.
I like working with friends and people I know. That's who I want to travel with and do things with.
Internet can work, but it takes a whole new skill set to do it effectively.
Given the right compensation plan, you can make a fortune with 2 people...We all know 2 people who want to be rich.
A simple duplication process will work every time.
Thanks for letting me share my thoughts.
As an older marketer, I'm 66 years young:) I agree with the bloke who said: We only need 2 people to become rich, we all know 2 people who want to be rich. And I'm sure we all do but...It's finding 2 people who want to be rich who are prepaired to get off their butt and do something about it! That's the hard part!
I have tried to influence people for the better but have just about given up, I do okay, drive a nice 1996 Land Rover Discovery TDi 300, which I've had since new and will never sell, I also have two SAAB's 900 GTI's, my home is "my" home...no partnership with a bank and when friends see me in my Disco or one of the SAAB's, there coments are usually "Heck Bill, you must ge going great! How do you do it?" I then tell them...I work online, anyone can do what I do...if you want to know what I do to make money online, call me or better still, come around and I'll show you!
To this day not one of those people have called around or called me on the phone! Not even my two brothers!
They all want things but they don't want to get off their butts to even see how I do it!
These days if anyone asks, I just say I won the lottery, I also tell them I can show them how to increase "their" own chances of winning the lottery and even get to play for free...if they'll come around to my place! They never call and you know what! I don't give a damm! I have better contacts in chat-rooms! In chat-rooms some people ask for my advice and "some" are ready to do something with that advice...As for the others? Who cares! So yes! Find two people will get you started but...they must be the right two people :)
Coming into the business years ago what was taught from the stage was not to reinvent the wheel and the rationale for the warm market and the 3 foot rule was that it was worked for "the majority of people the majority of the time".
The truth is the warm market does not work for the majority of the people the majority of the time. For that matter neither does any one single marketing method.
Different things work for different people. MLMers have found success with print advertising, direct mail, telemarketing, voicemail marketing, classified ads, email marketing, the 3 foot rule and other methods. There is no one size fits all. Each MLMer must devise a strategic marketing plan that works for them.
